This policy explains what data the Almanogram puzzle game (Android app com.mgonnacrusht.almanogram) handles, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Almanogram is made by MgonnacrushT Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16877439, registered office: Unit 501 Leroy House, 434-436 Essex Road, London, N1 3FY, United Kingdom), which is the data controller. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
Summary
- No account, no sign-in, no ads and no in-app purchases.
- Your game progress and settings are stored only on your device.
- The game sends usage statistics, linked to a random app ID, to our own analytics server in Germany so we can improve the puzzles. A short note after the tutorial on first start explains this, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings > Usage statistics.
- We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos or advertising ID, and we do not sell data or share it with advertisers.
Data stored on your device
The app keeps the following on your device only: solved puzzles, stars and best times, a puzzle you left unfinished, your settings (language, vibration, the usage statistics switch), whether you have seen the tutorial and the first-start note, and the random app ID described below. Apart from that ID, which goes with each usage event, this data is not sent to us. It is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Usage statistics (analytics)
To understand which puzzles are too hard, where the tutorial is unclear and which features are used, the app sends usage events to Umami, an open-source, cookieless analytics tool that we host ourselves at umami.mgonnacrusht.co.uk, on a server in Germany. The data is not sent to a third-party analytics company. Because the events are linked to a random app ID, they are pseudonymous rather than anonymous: they do not tell us who you are, but they can be connected to each other.
Each event can contain:
- A random app ID: a random identifier created on your device the first time the app opens. It is not linked to your name, account, phone number or any hardware or advertising ID. A new random ID replaces it every 12 months, and a new one is also created if you clear the app's data or reinstall.
- Game events: for example app opened, app sent to the background or reopened, tutorial step reached or skipped, puzzle started, solved or left, hint or check used, collection opened, language or setting changed. Events can include the puzzle, its level number, time spent, how much of the picture was filled, and the number of hints, checks and mistakes.
- Technical details: app version, the store the app was installed from, app language, screen size, operating system (for example Android) and device type (phone or tablet).
- Approximate location: country, region and city, derived from your IP address when the event reaches our server. Your IP address is used only for this and to deliver the request: Umami does not store it (it is turned into a one-way, salted session value that cannot be reversed), and our server does not keep access logs with IP addresses.
We use this data only to improve the game and do not combine it with other data about you. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR (and EU GDPR where it applies) is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the game. Storing the random app ID on your device for this purpose is covered by the statistics exception in the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025), which requires us to tell you about it and to let you turn it off. The app does not use cookies.
Your choice: the first time you play, a short note after the tutorial explains the statistics, and this policy describes them in full. You can turn them off at any time in Settings > Usage statistics. When it is off, the app sends nothing. Turning it off sends one final event recording that the setting changed.
Retention
Our analytics software does not delete data automatically, so we delete analytics data older than 25 months from our server by hand on a regular schedule. Data on your device stays until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Service providers and app stores
- Server hosting: our analytics server is hosted by Hostinger in Germany (European Union), which stores the data on our behalf.
- Google Play: when you download the app, Google processes data under its own terms and privacy policy (Google Privacy Policy). We receive aggregated statistics from Google Play Console, such as install numbers and crash reports.
We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
International transfers
Analytics data is stored in Germany (European Union). The UK recognises the EU as providing adequate protection for personal data, so no further transfer safeguards are needed for this.
Your rights
Where UK or EU GDPR applies, you have rights over personal data, such as access, erasure and the right to object. In practice, the only data about you that reaches us is the usage statistics described above, and they are linked only to a random app ID that is not connected to your name, email address or any account. We cannot tell which records belong to you, and the app does not show the ID, so we are not able to look up, export or delete individual records (UK GDPR Article 11). Instead, you control the data directly:
- Stop it: turn off Settings > Usage statistics and the app sends nothing more. This is also how you object to the processing.
- Start fresh: clear the app's data or reinstall it; a new random ID is created that is not linked to the old one.
- It expires: older statistics are deleted from our server after at most 25 months.
You do not need to contact us to use these choices. If you have a question about privacy, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or to your local data protection authority.
Children
Almanogram is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Security
Usage statistics are sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures for a small company. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
If the game changes what it collects (for example if ads are added in a later version), we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date before that version is released.
